Brian
M. Brown
I was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. I graduated
from Ottumwa High School in 1985. My wife and
I were married shortly thereafter. Later that year, I enlisted in
the United States Navy. The Navy brought my family to San Diego,
California, a significant change for two kids from Iowa. I began taking college courses at San Diego City College
while I was in the military. I transferred to San Diego State University
and graduated in 1992, with a degree in economics. I started law
school later that same year at California Western School of Law,
graduating in 1994, with Deans List Honors and the American
Jurisprudence Award in Trial Practice.
I decided to take the Nevada Bar Exam in 1994, while I was
in my last semester of law school, and was offered a law clerk position
with the Reno City Attorneys Office upon graduation.
In January of 1995, I accepted a position as Deputy District
Attorney for Washoe County. While a Deputy District Attorney, I
was given the opportunity to prosecute civil child abuse cases and
defend civil rights cases and other civil liability matters. The
civil litigation experience afforded me the opportunity to argue
before the Nevada Supreme Court in a matter which secured immunity
for social workers and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) workers
for their role in investigating child abuse cases. See, Foster
v. Washoe County, 114 Nev. 936, 964 P.2d 788 (1998).
I started with Thorndal,
Armstrong, Delk, Blalkenbush & Eisinger in 1999. I practice
in general civil litigation and civil rights claims. I am a Member
of the Nevada State Bar, Washoe County Bar, and the Defense Research
Institute.
Through the years, my wife and I have been blessed with
two children, a girl and a boy. I enjoy participating in softball, indoor
soccer (although knee surgery has significantly hampered my abilities)
and golf.
My approach to the practice of law is centered around creative
problem solving, with the overriding principle of doing what is right.
